Snowshoeing

Chaos Crags, Lassen National Park

This two mile adventure is a must! The trail begins with a climb as you make way through the trees towards the Crags. The last half mile opens up, providing incredible views of Lassen and untouched fields of snow.

Manzanita Lake, Lassen National Park

This 1.6 mile loop is spectacular! This easy trail provides you with beautiful views of Lassen Peak, Chaos Crags, and the frozen Manzanita Lake.

Eskimo Hill, Lassen National Forest

Eskimo Hill is well known for sledding but underrated for snowshoeing! There is a unmarked unused logging road to the left side of the hill. Although there are no signs for the trail-head, this 16 mile, forested trail is usually quiet, and is relatively flat.

Bunny Flat, Shasta-Trinity National Forest

Bunny Flat is a winter recreation playground. Snowshoe, sled, back-country ski, or snowmobile from this trail head. There are many routes to take, but I recommend following the ridge line to the left (facing Mt. Shasta).

Hatchet Mountain Trail

Hatchet Mountain Trail or "Bunch Grass Lookout Rd." is great after a good storm.  Please use caution when parking and leave room for CalTrans to plow.
